Sample FOOH (fake out-of-home) ad by Gotchaa Lab: a giant 3D cat climbs out of the wraparound billboard at Pavilion KL. A CGI stunt, not a real installation.
Concept work. A CGI stunt made to show the format, not a real installation.
A FOOH ad, short for fake out-of-home, is a CGI video staged to look like a real billboard or street display. A giant object or animal is composited onto a real landmark, then shared as a clip on Reels, TikTok and Instagram. Nothing is physically built or installed.
FOOH ad FAQ
What is a FOOH ad?
FOOH stands for fake out-of-home. It is a CGI clip made to look like a real outdoor installation, such as a giant cat climbing out of a billboard. It runs on social feeds instead of a physical street, so there are no permits or build costs.
Is the giant cat at Pavilion KL real?
No. The cat, the billboard takeover and the 3D break-out effect are all added in post-production. Pavilion KL is a real place, but the installation never existed. This clip is concept work by Gotchaa Lab.
Why do brands use FOOH ads?
A believable giant-object illusion stops the scroll and earns shares that a normal product ad rarely gets. It delivers the impact of a landmark billboard for a fraction of the cost, with no permits and no physical build.
